Blue Moon Light Box

Working on harmonicas requires a high level of precision craftsmanship.  To a large degree, customizing reed plates involves sealing off leaks and tightening tolerances to boost the performance of the instrument.  Embossing a reed slot can reduce the space between the reed and the slot to less than 1/1000^th of an inch.  The slightest bit of debris – a loose burr carved up during the embossing process – or an off-center reed can impede the movement of the reed through the slot.  A light box allows you to inspect your work to make sure it is clean.  It provides a back light that illuminates potential flaws and enables you to correct them.  The Blue Moon Light Box is a LED light mounted in an acrylic case that measures about 6” X 6” X 8 ”.  It allows you to work with the entire reed plate back lit or you can use the included overlay to isolate one reed at a time.
