BUILT-TO-ORDER CUSTOM HARMONICAS

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Blue Moon offers Custom 10-Hole Diatonic Harmonicas that are built according to your preferences, working within the framework of the individual components that we have available.   That involves your choice of Brand, Model, Comb Material, Comb Color, Tuning, and Setup.  Consequently, that means ordering a custom harp from us is a collaborative effort.  Effective communication is critical. 

If you would like to purchase a Built-to-Order Custom Harmonica, please send an email to: info@bluemoonharmonicas.com with the following information:

1. Brand/Model - Which Brand/Model do you want?  Your options include the following:

a.       Hohner Marine Band 1896 (at present, that is the only Marine Band available to us.)

b.       Hohner Special 20

c.       Hohner Golden Melody (original version)

d.       Hohner Big River

e.       Suzuki Manji

f.         Suzuki ProMaster

g.        Suzuki Olive

h.       Suzuki SUB-30

i.          Seydel 1847

2. Key – which key(s) do you want?

3. Comb - Which comb material and color do you want?  Please visit the Custom Comb section of my website and choose a specific comb that is currently available on my website.  If you can’t add it to your Shopping Cart, that means I am out of that particular comb, so you’ll have to choose another color. 

4. Tuning – The default tuning on most of the custom harps we build is Modern Compromise Temperament @ A=442 Hz.  The default tuning on a Hohner Golden Melody is Equal Temperament @ 442 Hz.  If you would prefer another tuning, all you have to do is ask.  Some popular alternatives are 7-Limit Just Intonation, 19-Limit Just Intonation, and MS-Series Compromise Temperament.  You can also request specialized tunings such as Country Tuned, Paddy Richter Tuning, Natural Minor, etc.

5. Setup – we offer two different setups:

a.       Traditional Blues Setup – this setup is suitable for the majority of players who play blues, folk, rock, gospel, and country.  The setup is medium tight which facilitates a smooth even response across the entire harp and also enables overblows on holes 4, 5 and 6 assuming you have developed the skills.

b.       Fully Chromatic Setup – this setup is a bit tighter than the Traditional Blues Setup and enables you to play chromatically via the use of Overblows and Overdraws, once again assuming that you have developed the requisite skills.

Pricing is as follows:

·      BASE PRICE $225.00 - The base price for each Built-to-Order Custom Harp is $225.00 for all models except for the Suzuki SUB-30 (which is $275.00)

·      BRASS COMBS +$25.00 – Brass combs add $25.00 to the price of each harmonica

·      DOUBLE REED PLATE + $50.00 – Double Reed Plate harps are available in the following models: Marine Band, Special 20, Manji in the keys of C and lower.  There is an addtional charge of $50.00 for Double Reed Plate Harps.

·      Overblow/Overdraw Setup +$50

·      Suzuki SUB-30 $275 – available in the keys of A, C and D with either Corian or Anodized Aluminum Combs.

Please note that it will take some time to build your harp(s).  Once we have finalized exactly what you want, I will send you an invoice with instructions not to pay the invoice until I am ready to build your harp(s).  This will effectively place you on my Waiting List without having to pay in advance or put a deposit on your order.  It might be 2 or 3 months before I can get to your order.  If so, please be patient.  When your order is close to the top of my list, I will contact you with instructions to pay the invoice.  At that point, I will expect prompt payment and you can expect prompt delivery – within two weeks.  If payment is not received in a timely manner, I will move on to the next order on my list, and you will lose your place in line.
