Most of you who view this listing already know what an XB-40 is.  For those of you who are not familiar with this instrument, a brief description is included below the relevant details of this particular offering.

For starters, unlike harmonicas I usually list, these harmonicas are not custom harmonicas.  I have done zero reed work, tuning, adjusting or any of the other work that typically goes into the building of a custom harmonica.  They are being offered As-Is.  I have personally tested each harmonica and as far as I can tell, they are in good working order.  Some of these harmonicas are clearly used.  The covers are scratched and show clear evidence of use.  About a dozen or so of these harmonicas were built from parts by a former Hohner Harp Tech.  What does that mean?  Like any other company, Hohner offers new complete harmonicas and they also offer replacement parts.  The Hohner XB-40 was in production for about ten years, so it is logical to assume that spare parts – replacement reed plates, combs and covers – became available at some point.  At some point after Hohner had discontinued the production of XB-40s in 2013, an enterprising harp tech used the remaining inventory of spare parts to construct complete harmonicas.  These can fairly be considered New Old Stock.  Lastly, I have a handful that did not come from the batch that were built by the Hohner Harp Tech, but do not show any evidence of use.  I am going to call these New Old Stock as well.

With all that being said, I will personally guarantee your satisfaction with any of the XB-40s that you might purchase.  If you are not happy with your purchase, I will be happy to issue a refund.  Just communicate with me.

For those of you who are not familiar with the XB-40, here’s a little information.  The XB stands for eXtreme Bend.  The 40 stands for 40 reeds.  The XB-40 is a 10-hole harmonica with 40 reeds that was introduced by Hohner in 2003.  This unique design enables it to be played chromatically via the use of draw bends and blow bends.   It was discontinued in 2013.
